Psychodynamic Hypnosis
Hypnosis is one of the most effective - and easiest - tools for using your own mind to make changes that you choose. Hypnosis was recognized by the American Medical Association in 1959 as a valuable and non-invasive complimentary therapy. The subconscious mind takes in all messages that we feed it, knowingly or not. Think about it: all messages you heard as a young child- positive or negative- were stored away and still have strong influence over your present day functioning if you have not taken steps to undo them. Hypnosis is one easy method to undo those programs that keep running in the background- like driving with one foot on the accelerator and one on the break- or having a virus on your computer's hard drive. Hypnosis with EFTEFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, is a powerful energy therapy that works along the same energy meridians as acupuncture. I have found this alone to be extremely effective in dealing with the energy imbalance that is present in very many disorders. Once that energy is balanced, the body's own healing faculty corrects the problem. I have found it so effective in both my own life, as well as in my clients, that I am using EFT in all situations: the work is done in a fraction of the time, and the client is empowered with the skill. Does it work all the time? Of course not, what does? But it works so often that it cannot be ignored as a therapeutic tool. The Basis of Psychodynamic HypnosisThink of your core beliefs, those which may have been established unconsciously, as the blueprint for your life. Your emotions then are the responses to your beliefs and to the events around you according to your beliefs. It's not just what happens to you, but how you perceive it and then respond: your feelings are the builders of your life. Next, the building blocks- your patterns of thought and action. If you start with sound, healthy, and joyful beliefs, your emotions are then positive ones, and therefore your thought patterns are strong, healthy, beneficial powers that establish your life experience. With hypnotherapy you get to erase harmful, unwanted core beliefs and begin again with clear positive beliefs as the basis of what you trulydesire. Under hypnosis, you become familiar with what it is you want to manifest in your life- the healthy feeling state, and what is known to your subconscious mind is what determines your reality. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis: I as your hypnotist simply guide you there; you do the rest. OnTrack Surgery Readiness ProgramThe evidence has been in for along time on the benefits of relaxation practice alone before sugery: faster healing, less pain medication required post-op, and above all a sense of ease about the whole experience. No anxiety. Wtih the added suggestions that are given during hypnosis, benefits can include less blood loss, reduced risk of infection, ease of coughing (needed to remove the anaesthesia from the system), ease of urination, increase of appetite, and ease of moving the bowels. In sum: getting the body's systems back to normal, and therefore leaving the hospital sooner. I also propose a list of statements, said to you during the surgical procedure by the surgeon or aneasthetist, to encourage all of the above healing processes. I will provide you with that script, which is then pinned to your hospital gown during surgery. I can also provide for you a recording of a relaxation script with suggestions for healing, which you listen to during the surgery. This provides two benefits: (1) reinforcement of previous relaxation training with guided imagery for faster healing, and (2) blocks out conversation of the surgical team, which is not always beneficial to hear while under anaesthetic.
